Thirteen Dead End Drive Board Game

13 Dead End Drive is a relatively new board game, but with that being said, it has built up quite the following over the past few years. Released in 1995 by Milton Bradley, this murder themed game has a lot to offer players. Not only is it fun and exciting, but it is also a great game if you like to put your mind to work. For this reason, 13 Dead End Drive has become one of the most popular board games in the world. Many people are unaware that a less popular sequel of this game, 1313 Dead End Drive, was released in 2002.

Generally speaking, the game itself is not hard to understand. The basic gist of the game is simple. A rich old woman dies, and this leads to people fighting over her will. The board is set up like a mansion, and each player uses traps and other tricks to kill the other players, and in turn, end up with the riches in the end. Of course, there is much more to the game than that, but for a basic outline, that tells you the exact point.

At the beginning of the game, players receive character cards that correspond with the board. Since there are 12 cards, in most games, each player has more than one. Of course, if you have 12 players, each one will get a card. As you can imagine, the ability of 12 players to participate makes Thirteen Dead End Drive one of the most user friendly games around. Although the character cards are passed out, players are not supposed to reveal which ones they have received. In addition to the 12 character cards, there are also trap cards, which are meant to kill off other players. Portrait cards are also used to show who is in the lead for the inheritance.

There are three ways that you can win a game of 13 Dead End Drive.

  1. If your card represents the last character alive you will automatically win.
  2. Leave the mansion while the picture frame is displaying the picture of your character. This is easier said than done!
  3. When the detective reaches the door, have your picture displayed in the frame.

As far as strategy is concerned, there is not much to the game of 13 Dead End Drive. The game is more or less governed by the rules, and has a lot to do with luck. But with that being said, it is still a lot of fun.

When it comes to games that are based off of mystery, it does not get much better than 13 Dead End Drive.
