History and Other Details about PaydayPay Day History

The board game, Payday, was invented by Paul Gruen. If you are familiar with the board game industry, you are probably well aware that Gruen is one of the top designers of all time. For this reason, you can only imagine how much fun Payday is. Payday was originally manufactured by Parker Brothers in the 70’s. As you may know, Parker Brothers is now a part of the larger company, Hasbro. Payday is vastly popular and is sold in large numbers from one side of the world to the next.

Many people are unaware of the fact that Pay day was the most successful game ever created by Gruen. In fact, in the year of its initial release, Payday outsold Monopoly. This alone goes a long way in showing just how popular Payday has been over the years.

Many changes have been made to the game over the years. Although they are noticeable, the changes have not done entirely too much to the game. In other words, the basic objective is still the same.

Some of the changes include:

1. In the past, the starting money was $325 for each player. This has increased to $3,500 in the most recent version of the game. It makes sense for this to change since the economy has done the same over the past 30 years or so.

2. In the early version of the game, it was only set up for four players. This has been increased to six players today, and most feel that this is much better. After all, the more the merrier when it comes to a great game such as Payday.

3. Deal and mail cards have changed in quantity. There were 79 mail cards and 16 deal cards early on. The modern version of the game has cut this down to 48 mail cards and 24 deal cards. This does not have a huge effect on the game, but it is something that has changed in Payday history.

Although the modern version of the game is more up to date, believe it or not, there are still people who play with their original board game. If you are nostalgic, there is nothing wrong with using the original. In fact, many people love doing this because it brings back good childhood memories for them.

Payday is one of the most popular board games of all time. It offers fun and excitement, a chance to learn about money, and much more. Because of the ability to learn about the uses of money, many parents play with their children and use the game as a learning tool.
